What's new and improved in Beelocity

v0.153.4

The 18 guide pages that a new owner reads first now use short sentences, from sign-up to a working company. The home page and all 13 module pages now say what the app does today, in English, French and Arabic. If a colleague changes a record while you edit it, the app warns you before your save replaces their change.

Improved

Getting Started, in plain words

The 18 pages that a new owner reads first now use short sentences, in English, French and Arabic. They take you from sign-up to a working company. Each step names a form or a button that exists in the app.

  • Signing up — the guide follows the real form and its five fields. It then explains the six-digit code in your email, which expires after 15 minutes.
  • Setting up your business — the guide walks through the six screens, in order.
  • Inviting your team — the guide says who can send an invitation. It also says that a new member needs a role to start work, and that you give it in Settings → Members.
  • Finding your way — Navigating Beelocity describes the sidebar as it works today. Dashboard names the cards you see, and it now covers the Point of Sale tab.
  • Lists and records — Working with Lists says what each click on a column header does. Working with Records says what happens when two people edit the same record.

The guide now answers questions like these:

  • Why does my new colleague have no line in Members?
  • Why does a download still show the old colour?
  • Which file did my client receive?

Printing and stored copies

  • Print or download — Print invoice shows the invoice as it stands today, and the app keeps nothing. Download invoice stores a copy. Use it for what you send or file.
  • A stored copy stays the same — after you send a document, its stored copy never changes. Document Settings now says that a change reaches the next document you print or download, and never a stored copy.
  • The language of a document — a document takes the language of its client or supplier, or else your organization's language. The language you read the app in plays no part.

Clearer messages in the app

  • When a colleague changes your record — the message now warns you: If you save now, your form replaces what they changed on it. To keep their change, press Cancel, then Edit.
  • Who to ask — if you have no access, or if a module is off, the message now tells you to ask the owner of your organization.
  • Members — the page now says who it lists: the people who hold a role. A member with no role has no line yet.

The home page and the module pages

  • What the app does today — the home page and all 13 module pages now use short sentences, and they describe the app as it is. The app itself did not change. The next bullets show what they now say.
  • The Modules menu — each module now has one short line that fits the menu, such as Follow each import from the bank to the shelf.
  • Point of sale — the cashier types a weight, and can keep up to six baskets open.
  • Online store — your store shows your products, your stock and your prices. A buyer who wants a product calls you.
  • Procurement — when a purchase requisition is approved, the app drafts one purchase order for each supplier and currency.
  • Treasury — you type in the bank statement and match its lines. When the balances agree, you press Reconcile & lock.
  • Payroll — Pay the salaries writes one draft payment per person in Treasury. The money moves when you confirm each payment.
  • Manufacturing and inventory — each report on the last operation puts the finished goods into stock. A cycle count gives you one task for each location of the warehouse.

Fixed

  • Invitation cards — a card now reads Job title: Warehouse manager. It used to say Role, but a job title gives no permission. The Job title tooltip now says where it shows.
  • Signature block — the Print a signature block tooltip now names the quotation and the delivery note. It also says that six other papers always print a block.
  • Share capital — the tooltip now says how to print it: add it to the Footer line in Document Settings.
  • Statements — the statement dialog now says that the app produces no statement if the client has documents in another currency.
  • Dashboard tooltips — Past-due invoices no longer names an amount that the card does not show. Unreconciled lines no longer says that bank lines are imported.
  • Setup — the screen for your legal details now says that most of them print on your documents. The personal workspace note now says that you cannot change its name and code.
  • Arabic and French words — the Arabic sidebar and search now use one word for a module. The French dashboard now says tiroir-caisse and Commandes client ouvertes.
  • Three more guide pages — Invitations, Online Store and Your Inbox now match the app.

Internal

  • Two new checks before each release — a test opens the Modules menu in all three languages and fails if a line is cut. Another test checks what a click does on lists that open sorted.
